Aquamarine

I started my vacation by traveling to Virginia Beach for the day. It marked the return of many things. For example, I hadn’t been to the beach in nine years. That’s right. I’ve lived within at most two hours of a beach every year, but I just don’t make the trip.

I also wore flip-flops for the first time since kindergarten. I purchased pink ones with orange polka dots from Target for 25 cents last week. I managed to lose them twice in the water, but I still have them now. They also accidently matched my beach bag.

The beach was fun and hot. It was the hottest day of the summer, and I stayed out there for two hours. Right now, I’m feeling the pain of that. I spent most of the time taking photos and stalking a boogie boarder. Yeah, I did a truckload of people-watching and amused myself.

Next was a trip to the aquarium. I was worn out from the beach and from walking on the boardwalk that I only went through one part of the aquarium. What I loved the most about the aquarium was that there were many interactive exhibits. The sea turtles were the highlight of the tour. One of them liked to follow people around in the tank while the others just circled around.

The Travel page has a description and link to photos from the day trip, and I plan to upload more to flickr this week.

Now that I have learned that I no longer have jury duty this week, I can really have a good vacation. I might go somewhere else this week.

You were in my neighborhood! How’d you like the heat index? Insane. Next time you’re here, we should have coffee! Or, you know. Something less hot.

It’s not as hot as when I lived in Georgia, but it was definitely a reminder. I will certainly see you the next time I’m there.
