The makeover

As I tried to style my hair on Sunday, my locks decided to bunch up together and tangle all over. My first thought was, “That’s it! No more relaxers! I’m cutting off all my hair!” After slightly rational thinking, I looked the Internets and found too much information that was difficult to digest. But the makeover search didn’t stop there; I went through a skin care and hand and foot care search.

So far, I has purchased the following:
Clinique 3-Step Set 1 2 3: After dragging my cheapskate feet to Macy’s to buy Clinique products, I figure that I should give this stuff a shot.
Patene Relaxed and Natural Intense Moisturizing Shampoo link: I haven’t switched shampoos in nearly 10 years. I have used Herbal Essence in that span and it had been pretty good to me in waves. But I want to give something else a try for a while before I make a permanent change.
Suave Kids’ Detangler no link: If it works gently for kids, why not me? I have had success with kid detanglers in the past and now I’m returning to it.

I haven’t tested out these products yet, and I’m not finished with my shopping. Updates will follow.

C

Let me start by telling you that I have cut off and grown my hair back and relaxed it more times than I am going to ever admit. Ha ha!

In the last year, my girlfriend introduced me to some forums where I learned SO MUCH about black hair and just hair in general. I swear by these shampoos and conditioners by Mizani
which I get at Ulta. They are expensiveish (before that I used Redken in the brown bottle but they tweaked it and then I started to hate it) – and my hair has never been happier.

I’ve also learned to use a lot less product on my hair. I also use the Mizani Rose Conditioning Hairdress and I love it – also expensive but lasts for forever.

We probably have different textures of hair but in all honesty – I never use a detangler. Ever. I will use a leave-in conditioner. Infusium 23, old faithful – or one that comes in my relaxer (Dr. Miracle’s I think I use) but that’s it.

On my face I use good old-fashioned Cetaphil and every other day an expensive but totally worth it face wash by DDF

My moisturizer is also by Cetaphil but I will occasionally use one by Dove called Energy Glow that I love because it doesn’t make my face feel greasy. And also because I picked up the Cetaphil that didn’t have the SPFARGH!

And that is probably more than you ever wanted to know about my hair and my skin ;)
