Pay to stop calling
I have shared my many beefs with Verizon on this blog, and today’s beef is no different. In fact, it’s quite funny because the company left a message on my voicemail about high-speed DSL being available in my area. I just laughed and nearly hit the delete button until I heard this, “If you would like to sign up for high-speed service, call 1-800-etc-etc2. If you wish to be placed on our DO-NOT-CALL list, call 1-LON-GDIST.” So, I would have to use long distance service to tell my phone company to stop calling me? And since I make only one long-distance call every five years, this call would cost me the same as one month of high-speed Internet service. I guess I have to live with the messages, and Verizon will have to live with my bitterness.
