Excursion

I took advantage of my extended weekend today by traveling to Charlottesville to take photos of more store windows. I have found that I have exhausted my local spots and needed to expand upon my selection. Charlottesville is only a two-hour drive and I never had the time to go out there.

So, after waking up two hours later than I wanted to, getting a Charlie horse, and making a detour to Circuit City for its killer CD sale, I arrived in Charlottesville. I only gave myself less than four hours to find the perfect place to take photographs. Of course, I ate up 40 mintues to find it. I settled for the Corner District near the UVA campus and was a bit disappointed with the window selection and the general snobby attitudes of Charlottesvillians. There were some highlights: sliders at Jabberwocky (brought back memories of White Castle hamburgers), Dixie Divas (fantastic mannequins and outfits), and a weird shop that I don’t remember the name of but it’s closing its doors.

I regret that I didn’t have enough time to really explore Charlottesville, like seeing Monticello and going through Historic Downtown. That will require waking up earlier. There are some photos from the trip here and I will develop the film of the windows pretty soon.

And speaking of windows, I have updated the art section with art taken in February, April and May. And the Flickr account has new photos, too.
