    Don't you like my collection?

Thanks, C, for tagging me with this meme:

Here’s a music meme to reflect how eclectic your music collection might be. I (I, being J) call it Alphabet Song. Put your music library in alphabetical order by song, then take the first song for each letter of the alphabet. No repeat artists. Tag five people then let them know they’ve been tagged to do the meme themselves.

    A ABC — Jackson 5
    B B.O.B. — Outkast
    C C’est Marveilleuz — Edith Piaf
    D D’yer Mak’er — Sheryl Crow
    E E-Pro — Beck
F F*cking Boyfriend — The Bird and The Bee
    G Galang — M.I.A.
    H Hag — The Breeders
I I’d Like To — Corinne Bailey Rae
J Jaan Pahechan Ho — Mohd. Rafi, Manoj Kumar, Nanda
    K K. 213 — Domenico Scarlatti / Reitzell
    L L-O-V-E — Al Green
    M Machete — Moby
N Naked — The Goo Goo Dolls*
    O O’ Sailor — Fiona Apple
    P P.D.A. (We Just Don’t Care) — John Legend
Q Que Me Quedes Tu — Shakira
R Racing Like A Pro — The National
    S S’Wonderful — Diana Krall
T Taffy — Lisa Loeb & Nine Stories
    U U Got the Look — Prince
    V Valentine — Justice*
W Wade In The Water – Mary Mary

    One Hundred & Ninety Three

    It’s time for Friday’s Fest:

    Appetizer
Do you consider yourself to be an optimist or a pessimist?
I’m less pessimistic than I used to be, but I’m not a full optimist either.

    Soup
What is your favorite color of ink to write with?
Purple, but it makes me feel like a third-grader when I use purple ink at work.

    Salad
How often do you get a manicure or pedicure? Do you do them yourself or go to a salon and pay for them?
Once a month and I do it myself.

    Main Course
Have you ever won anything online? If so, what was it?
I won six months of DirecTV in 2001 from a fantasy basketball tournament with Sports Illustrated and CNN. However, I didn’t own a house then, so I couldn’t claim the prize.

    Dessert
In which room in your house do you keep your home computer?
In my home office, the second smallest room in the house.

    One hundred ninety-two

I’ve decided to jump on the bandwagon, or whatever it is at the moment, and I’m participating in Friday’s Feast, so here is the menu for #192:

    Appetizer
When you drink soda/pop/coke, do you prefer to drink it from the bottle, a can, or after pouring it into a cup?
I prefer a glass bottle if it’s one of those fancy Italian sodas. Otherwise, I would rather have a cup.

    Soup
What television show are you willing to stay up late to watch?
The Daily Show and sometimes General Hospital on SoapNet.

    Salad
Name one person, place, or thing you think of as brilliant.
    Ralph Ellison’s “Invisible Man”

    Main Course
Would you be willing to work 4 10-hour days instead of 5 8-hour days in order to save gas?
No because I would be using more electricity if I work 10-hour days at work and have three off days. Also, my commute is about three miles, so I would travel six miles on my workdays but about 15 miles on my off-days. So, working four days would actually cost me more in gasoline and energy.

    Dessert
If you were a superhero, what would you call yourself?
Phobia Girl — she runs away from danger and let others fight to save her!

    The best things

Good things I have had this week, thanks to the Internets:

    1. She & Him: Really, it was about three weeks ago that I discovered the duo’s existence and that was while on the Associated Press Exchange site for my second job and touring the SXSW photos. I downloaded the new album from eMusic and have been in love with “Volume One” ever since. Especially now that I am listening to it.
    2. $500 coupons and free $5 Amazon gift certificates: Bargain hunting has saved me beaucoup d’argent this week. Nice!
    3. Birthday present shopping is a lot easier: I purchased a handbag for one of my college friends sold in an etsy store that is run by one of my high school friends. Small world. Plus, because Amazon made a mistake on one of my past orders, I got an extra $5 to spend on other birthday presents.
    4. Facebook: In two days, I learned that three-fourths of my high school friends and three-fourths of my college friends are engaged or married. I feel so behind in the game of life, but I’m happy with where I am now. But my “congratulations” button was in overdrive as I cheered those friends on.

Only one bad thing: the price for a flight from here to Atlanta has increased by $200 in two months. Junk!

    Go ahead now

So I finally bought a new computer. It’s a bit of a long story, but I’ll try to abbreviate it as much as possible.

It started about five weeks ago when I couldn’t run iTunes on my computer anymore. For some reason, my computer would just lock up any time the program was on (like right now) and then the rest of my everyday programs would not work for days there after.

That was when the bargain hunting began. Soon after, I would hit up Slick Deals 32 times a day in hopes of finding a $500 off coupon for a customized unit. Within the last few days, I’ve found two of them.

I narrowed my choices to three brands: Dell, Lenovo and HP. I had two ThinkPads while in college, and my mom used to work in the manufacturing side of the business. I had some good luck with that brand. I never owned a Dell, but I liked that there were 17-inch laptops available. My current desktop is a HP that I’ve had since 2003 that I will turn into a server or a hub or something. I like my HP unit alike, but since they stopped making stuff to upgrade the unit like three years ago, I have to upgrade.

So yesterday morning, I bought an 17-inch HP dv9700t after performing much research and multiple configurations and saved a great deal with Slick Deal finds. It should arrive sometime next week, and I’m too excited about it.

And for you Apple/Mac lovers out there, if I hadn’t invested $500 worth of PC software, I would have switched.

    Get vaccinated

I don’t know if it’s the fact that I watched Michael Clayton last night and need a good laugh or that I’m high on Laffy Taffy right now, but I really liked this video:

How did I get to this?

After the redesign craziness, I decided to limit my Internet intake to only at work and for work-related stuff. That lasted for two days. I will finish 2007 eventually. I just said goodbye to it at work by changing some of our templates to say “2008.” Computers and programs don’t always do it automatically.

Anyway, to slowly introduce myself back into the Internets, I’m completing this meme I got tagged from C. After all, memes are great when you don’t feel like ranting about nonsense.

Here’s the rule: Remove 1 question from below, and add in your personal question, make it a total of 20 questions, then tag 8-10 people in your list, list them out at the end of this post. Notify them in their chat box that he/she has been tagged.

    1. At what age do you wish to marry?
Unless I can find someone who will tolerate the fact I will be taking care of my parents for the rest of my life, I don’t see marriage in my future.

    2. What color do you like most?
Judging from my wardrobe and color choices for my Web sites, it’s either brown, pink or gray. I’m leaning towards gray.

    3. Where is the place that you want to go the most?
Italy. I’ve tried for two years to go to an art program there, and I still want to do it.

    4. Which part of you do you hate the most?
My skin’s sensitivity. I can’t wear jewelry, acrylic, watches, latex gloves, etc.

    5. When you encounter a sad moment, what would you do?
I sometimes cry, but not as much as I used to.

    6. What are you afraid to lose the most?
    Shelter.

    7. If you win $1 million, what would you do?
    See answer No. 3.

    8. What’s your wish for the year ahead?
Continue to have Fridays and Saturdays off.

    9. How did you celebrate the New Year?
    I worked.

    10. Till now, what is the moment that you regret the most?
    Regrets are for suckers.

    11. Which type of person do you hate the most?
    Liars.

    12. What is your ambition?
    To have ambition.

    13. If you had one wish what would you wish for?
That people stop mispronouncing my name. I know, a very vain wish.

    14. What is the best gift you can give someone this year?
A phone call. I used to be a telemarketer many, many years ago and have developed a strong dislike to making phone calls. So, for me to call someone is a really big step.

    15. List two of your Top Ten New Year’s Resolutions.
Rework the five-year plan. Improve my parallel parking skills.

    16. What do you need to do this year in order for you to be happier in life?
Deal with what God has given me and look at it as a blueprint and not a structure.

    17. What are the Top 2 things that you are most thankful for the year 2007 that made you even more happier for 2008?
A new job and paying off my car.

    18. What was the best lesson you learned in 2007 (be specific)?
Driving large vehicles is not as scary as I thought.

    19. In this very moment, are you doing what you thought you’d be doing at this stage in your life?
No, I never thought I’d move to a place where it snows every other day during winter.

    20. What is the one bad habit you want to rid yourself of?

Tagging: You, the one in the corner; you in the yellow sweater, you with the polka dots, etc.

    Casualties

Ever since NaBloPoMo, fewer people are posting on their blogs. Unless, they are gluttons and are participating in holidailies as well. The Internets have become less interesting, expect for all of the debates about the Top 30 albums of the year. My vote is for Sean Kingston 1.

It’s also the holiday season, so I guess people are away from their computers and shopping in malls 2. Not like me, bordered up at home after learning how to properly heat my apartment 3.

1 This is sarcasm. I support the kid, but it doesn’t mean I like his music.
2 They could be shopping online, not mentioning their blogs.
3 I learn that in order to get the house around 70 degrees, you must set it for 60.
