"Ratatouille"
The rat nearly, NEARLY, nearly knocked out Toy Story 2 as being my favorite animated movie.
The animation is amazing. It almost made me afraid of rats after seeing so many of them on the screen. There was so much consideration and detail to the storytelling, like having Remy walk on two legs instead of four. He wants to live in that human world that he is going to eat and walk like them. His journey for culinary perfection and how his family doesn’t understand his path are all things anyone, kids and adults, could relate to.
Now to the why Toy Story 2 is better. I didn’t like the human story. I missed it when Remy was on his own and doing ratty things than to see Linguini struggle with cooking and hiding Remy under his hat. I did love Anton Ego. He made me cry near the end. However, I cried 10 minutes longer during TS2.
But after suffering through The Incredibles and having yet to see Cars, I’m so happy to have found another Pixar film to love.
